Lori Gershaw, President
Building on more than 20 years of experience in event planning and management, Lori oversees all aspects of GCG Event Partners, guiding the company strategically and often rolling her sleeves up and assisting with day-to-day activities.
As a published author and sought after source for articles, interviews and reports, Lori frequently contributes her knowledge and experience to the event management industry.
She’s also a member of the Society of Government Meeting Professionals, and holds a Certificate in Meeting Management from Bentley College, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Allan Stark, Vice-President
As Vice President, Allan’s primary areas of responsibility include: financial, accounting, technical, Web, online marketing and operations. With 11 years in engineering, quality assurance and management before joining the team in 1995, Allan was instrumental in designing and implementing GCG Event Partners’ core business philosophies and culture, which entails a customer-centric focus. Moreover, he designed GCG Event Partners’ operations systems and processes to deliver services efficiently, and with a high degree of quality.
“I’m proud we’ve been able to continually improve and evolve our company and services to meet and exceed the needs of the marketplace,” says Allan. “We were the first to offer a client-based website where clients could manage their meetings and on-site management orders in real time.” He has an MBA from Suffolk University, and a BSEE from the University of New Hampshire.
Tammy Penkalski, Manager, Business Development
Since Tammy joined GCG Event Partners in 2008, she’s utilized her seven years of experience in continuing medical education, small business, event planning and management to make her a key element of GCG Event Partners’ success.
Tammy comes to GCG Event Partners with the ability to think like a client – in fact, she was one! She was so impressed with GCG Event Partners that she wanted to be a part of the company. Her experience as a client allows her to easily identify the needs of our clients, communicate these needs to our members, and create strong partnerships.
“Working in this industry provides many rewards,” says Tammy. “ One of the most rewarding aspects is nurturing the partnerships that we develop with our clients. These partnerships are highly successful and benefit the meeting industry, our clients, and our members.”
Michelle Barbaro, Manager, Placement Department
Michelle leverages her 11-plus years of direct corporate and medical event planning and management experience, as well as her human resources and recruiting background, to match the right candidates for clients’ events. In fact, Michelle was integral in developing and implementing our comprehensive network and systems. Holding a BS in Business Administration with a minor in Marketing from Salem State College, Michelle has managed to establish strong relationships with both clients and GCG Event Partners’ on-site meeting managers.
“My contribution to our clients is that I understand their needs and know my on-site meeting managers,” she says. “Because of these two things, I am able to make a great match and ensure our clients’ meetings are consistently successful.”
